MENEO

MENEO serpenteo, culebreo, vaivén —the body becomes a fluid canvas for identity, resistance, and celebration. This is a dance as a visceral state of presence. At the piece’s core is el meneo, a movement deeply ingrained in Caribbean social dances in dialogue with la clave, the foundational syncopated rhythm of Cuban music. Its beat acts as both a guide and a disruptor, weaving a complex entanglement of rhythm, body, and culture in perpetual transformation.

The performer emerges as a living monument, carrying stories oscillating between beauty and the infernal. MENEO evokes a profound, physical sensation where movement transcends into a vessel for primal energy —an embodiment of a pulse that binds the performer to her history.
